Beginning of a New Era

The Old Era...

Growing up I was really fortunate to have a basketball court in my backyard.  My dad has been a basketball coach all  his life so basketball has been part of our family since I can remember.  Between my dad, my two older brothers, friends, and all the former players, a lot of basketball games have taken place in the backyard.  This has resulted in a few scuffles, a few broken relationships, a few major injuries, and quite a few rolled ankles (one of the reasons for the new concrete).  The other reason for the new court was the old concrete sloped towards the house causing a drainage problem. After the rain delay, we were finally able to get the new concrete poured.

The new Era...

The new court is a little wider and the only way to make it a full half court would be to remove the family room...I'm sure my dad would have considered it if I suggested it. I'm looking forward to many more backyard games.  We are playing April 8 at 5pm, weather permitting.

For all of those who said the Cain boys had home court advantage, that is no longer an excuse! FYI the rim is tight so no more good bounces.   Bring your A game.

  1. I just wish we had a camera that was logging all of the games during the days we played. Can you imagine going back and looking at the footage?

Some great players played back there, really great ones.

Some really crappy played back there, really crappy ones.

At the end of the day though, lots of great memories.

Some legendary stories (Scones being banned by the Insurance Co), some legendary outfits (Don Close), top 10 worst/best players to ever play (ask Chris for the list we made).

I am looking forward to playing, except that I haven't played in prob 10 months.

Ah to go back in time, just once, just one time, and still have it.

    Sucks getting old

  2. I'm gonna have trouble locating my favorite shot with the new concrete. That 12' to 15' jumper (there was never much jumping) from the left side. I'm guessing there's no more Madagascar?!
