My son Moses is great. He woke up crying this morning saying "my eyes feel rough", which was a pretty good description, since they were swollen, dry, and crusty. Unfortunately, today was "Rodeo Day" (Moses called it "Radio Day") so I thought we might not go, but once he had breakfast he perked up and was ready to go. The thing about kids is they can feel crapy, but they still act happy (not always).
So Moses, my friend Jordan (below) and myself drove out to Oakdale in the central valley of northern CA. Jordan went to get beers and came back with a cowboy hat for Moses. Moses was pumped, and I'm sure he will be sporting it daily.
I'm not a cowboy, but appreciate different types of athletes. To watch in-person a rider stay on a 1 ton animal with horns is amazing. I've ridden a mechanical bull at a bar with foam padding underneath and still hurt myself when I landed; I also had sore and bruised inner-thigh muscles for a week from squeezing my legs to not fall off the bull (weak).

Moses loved the rodeo even though his eyes were gooey. After getting back home it looks like the poor guy has pink-eye...geez, no dad of the year this time around. Like I said, kids are tough.
I sported my rad bottle opening belt buckle, though it is a little tricky to work, as I have to lean over to avoid spilling the bottle of beer on my pants when the cap comes off. The pros are that it is a conversation starter and it would make MacGyver proud. All in all "Rodeo Day" was a blast.
