Another Boar Kill

I had my first large game kill with a rifle. I have to admit it was not nearly as exciting as going boar hunting with dog and knife (see previous two posts), but California doesn't allow dog and knife hunting (lame). I took down this sow at about 100 yards with my Savage 111 30-06 rifle. When the bullet hit the boar, she flew up and onto her back, almost as if a linebacker hit her from the side.
Shooting the boar turned out being the easiest part of the day as I spent the next 6 hours field dressing and butchering it. I'm sure it took a lot longer because it was the first time I've done this. I watched my friends in Kauai make quick work of the boars with their knives and I've also read about it. Doing it on my own was harder than I thought. I think it will go easier and faster next time. I also had trouble stringing it up, so I ended up making a ramp onto my truck and then strung the boar up on the lumber rack.
I'll try to remember to take more pictures next time.

Well I've attained my goal of brewing beer and killing a boar, so now it is time to have a beer and boar party! I hope also to use the vegetables from the garden so the meal is almost entirely from the land instead of the store.
