Gold Medal Cookies

So this isn't really a manly post for a guy's blog, but since I just killed a boar with a knife, I figure I already have your respect. I love chocolate chip cookies. I've never been a cake or pie guy, just cookies. I've also always liked to cook and bake, which is why my buddies made fun of me in high school calling me "Bretty Crocker".
Either my wife or myself bakes a batch weekly. My brothers love the cookies, especially the oldest Aaron, who asked for cookies for his birthday present. So last Thursday, to celebrate Aaron's birthday, a bunch of us guys went out to an upscale bar in Santa Row, San Jose. Anytime we go out, I'm usually going to be the least classy guy there, so I figured brining a ziplock bag of my oatmeal, chocolate chip, and m&m's cookies wouldn't hurt my image. Plus I'm married and I don't really care what anyone thinks. I gave the bag to Aaron when he got there, and he said, "You want me to carry this around?", I laughed as I knew he would say something to that effect. Then the strangest thing happened, a pretty young woman said, "What do you have there?". I told her I have a bag of freshly baked cookies and she could have one if my brother wanted to share :). She didn't hesitate to grab one. Then a different pretty young woman comes up and asks for a cookie as well. Next thing we know, ladies are all around wanting my gold medal cookies. Aaron and I looked at each other, thinking the same thing, why didn't we bring cookies to the bars when we were single! I told one of the girls I had a puppy in the car too, but she didn't get the joke.

So if you are looking for a date, instead of putting on cologne, wipe a little of this batter on your neck and take these cookies to the club and get yourself some phone numbers! I think I'll change the name of my cookies to "Club Cookies" or "Conversation Cookies", or "These Will Get You A Date Cookies". No matter what the name is, you and the opposite sex will enjoy this recipe.

Preheat oven to 350

1 stick of salted butter (softened or melted) (This is half the butter of most cookie recipes)
2 eggs
1 egg white
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of raw sugar (very important)
2 cups of flour
2 cups of old fashioned oats
1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup of m&m's

We don't have a mixer, but it is not needed. This is very easy. With a whisk, mix the the butter, eggs, vanilla, baking powder, baking soda, salt, brown sugar and raw sugar together. Then with a large spoon, mix in the flour throughly and then mix in the oats. Lastly mix in the chips and m&m's. Use two spoons to get the dough into awkward balls. Use a spoon to scoop the dough and another spoon to slide the scoop onto the tray. Bake for about 8 minutes or until the edges are browned. This makes a lot of cookies, which is good because they go fast, especially around beautiful women. There you have it, manly cookies!
